News from Norðlingaskóli
Norðlingaskóli has been buzzing with activity, including these highlights:
1st and 2nd grade built a complete whale as part of a workshop, and it now hangs in the hallway. A 25-meter blue whale.
1st grade drew the costumes they wore for Halloween onto Minion characters.
2nd grade learned about shapes and colors and explored artwork by Kandinsky in fine arts, while 3rd and 4th grade studied waterbirds in a workshop where each student drew one bird, outlined its main features, and researched its colors. They then looked up key facts about the bird and recorded their findings.
During the same workshop, students visited Perlan for the exhibit "Water in Iceland's Nature" and took a trip to the Nordic House.
3rd grade worked on a fun boat project, as shown in the photos.
The Skrekkur talent competition took place, and our teenagers did an amazing job.
7th grade performed The Animals in Hálsaskógur, giving an exceptional performance.
Author Bjarni Fritz gave a reading about Orri the Unstoppable, and students from grades 1-10 fetched the school's Christmas tree.
10th grade created items from the Saga of Gísli, which they're using in their final Icelandic class project on the saga. They also drew "their version of characters" from the Saga of Gísli, which were then cut from plywood sheets with a laser cutter. The laser-cut characters were then used to create a story tree to accompany their reading of the book.
